The AOC has approved criteria for the nomination of one athlete to the 2014 Nanjing Youth Olympic Games (YOG)
The YOG is for athletes turning 16 or 17 in 2014 (born in 1997 or 1998).
Under the criteria (linked below), AC will nominate one athlete to the AOC from amongst the age eligible athletes who have already nominated for 2014 Australian Teams. No separate nomination is required.
Athletes must be available for the whole YOG program in Nanjing from 16-28 August and take part in both canoeing events, the Canoe Sprint Head to Head race and the Head to Head Canoe Slalom Obstacle Course.
The YOG takes place in Nanjing China from 16-27 August and the Canoeing events will be held on 23/24 August and 26/27 August.
Australia qualified one male kayak athlete under the ICF criteria based on results at the 2013 canoe slalom junior world championship but was unsuccessful in qualifying female quotas or quotas from the 2013 Junior canoe sprint world championships.
64 Athletes from 40 nations have qualified for the YOG to compete in 8 events:
Canoe Sprint Head to Head
Head to Head Canoe Slalom Obstacle Course
Medals will be awarded in each event.
